At times in life it is helpful and necessary to seek professional help outside of ourselves or our current system of support. We recognize the very important role that professional counselors and therapists play in helping people find healing and wholeness in their lives. It is our desire to work in a collaborative relationship with members of the body of Christ who are competent and professional in their field of expertise.
To that end, we maintain a list of local professional counselors and therapists who specialize in a wide variety of concerns. Professionals on this list have been screened by the pastoral staff of RHCC and support their role and responsibility in promoting wholeness for individuals, couples, children, and families. At a minimum, these individuals are followers of Christ and are in agreement with RHCC’s position(s) on marriage, divorce, separation, and domestic violence.
Please note: the most important consideration in choosing a therapist is the “fit” between you and your therapist. As the client, you are the customer; it is paramount that you feel comfortable with the skill level of your therapist, and that your needs are being met. If you feel you are not getting what you need, be honest with the therapist, and move on. Not all of our referrals will fit every person.
In addition, brief pastoral counseling is available. This is time-limited and focused on immediate stabilization, providing solid biblical encouragement and next-step direction. To do this effectively, multiple resources are utilized to appropriately wrap around the individual‘s or couple’s specific areas of need.
