Wholeness Ministries

Wholeness Ministries
Wholeness Ministries is devoted to helping people find encouragement, healing, and congruency within themselves, in their relationships with others, and with God through the empowering work of the Holy Spirit. The word “wholeness” actually comes from the Latin root word salus, which is also where we get the word “salvation.” In the dictionary, wholeness simply means unity, entirety, completeness, and health. Wholeness refers to the interrelatedness of the parts of a family system, in which the system as a whole is greater than the sum of its parts.  So, if you affect change in one part of the system it will affect the entire system.

Christ was asked, “What is the greatest commandment of all?”  The Lord replied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.  The second is this:  Love your neighbor as yourself.  There is no commandment great than these.” (Mark 12:30-31). Christ must affect our whole lives.

Wholeness is a critical piece to our salvation in Christ. It is the process of unifying all the parts of who we are--our mind, our heart, our body, our soul, and our relationship with others--and placing these things under the lordship of Christ.  This is our responsibility, and when we choose to live out God’s Truth we experience freedom, strength, and hope: “. . . the truth will set you free” (John 8:32).

As followers of Christ we all are part of the priesthood of believers (1 Peter 2:5) and are charged with carrying one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2) as we offer the comfort to others that we have received from God (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). This is the experience, strength, and hope we all have as part of the Body of Christ. A key area of ministry in the church, therefore, is that of people helping people (1 Thessalonians 2:8).

Such a ministry of caring for and helping people has been given to all Christians (Galatians 6:2; 1Thessalonians 5:11,14), but particularly to those who have the spiritual gift of exhortation or encouragement (Romans 12:8). Other appropriate spiritual gifts have been given such as knowledge, wisdom, healing, discerning of spirits (1 Corinthians 12:8–10,28), and mercy (Romans 12:8). The Lord Jesus has called us to care for one another with His agape love (John 13:34,35) by loving others in the same way that Christ loved us (Ephesians 5:2).

Wholeness Ministries at RHCC is dedicated to allowing people to find a safe place to encounter the Truth about God and about themselves.
Primarily, this is through structured personal relationships with brothers and sisters in Christ, offering them encouragement, validation, and accountability centered on the Word of God and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
